Stella Birrell at Sue’s Blog Party
I just opened the front door and found the lovely writer, Stella Birrell on my doorstep, and I’m delighted to tell you that she’s brought cakes. Not just any cakes, but, lemon drizzle cakes! Stella, how did you know they’re my favourite? She’s also brought copies of singalong song sheets. It could get raucous. Perhaps we’ll soon be needing Sue’s throat sweets. Come on in, Stella, and show us your Q&As.
What is the first book you remember reading or having read to you? I think either Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, or Miss Tiggywinkle.
Who would be at your dream dinner party (alive, dead or fictional)? Emily Dickinson, Jane Green, Nick Hornby and … Jesus Christ. You couldn’t pass up an opportunity to meet him, could you?
What’s the best advice you have ever received? He’s just not that into you. Unfortunately it became a catch-phrase about four years too late to be of use to me!
Where are you happiest? In front of my fire with some kind of confection – marshmallows for choice. I’ll be the one in the floaty top. I’d either be working, or watching something animated with the children and my husband.
If I joined you on your perfect day, what would we be doing? Hmm, let me see. There would be a walk somewhere, preferably through a wood – it would magically be autumn. There would be a nice lunch, possibly in a pub. Some writing with some friends. A family dinner I didn’t have to cook, or wash up. And then the theatre or the cinema, to see something meaty that we can discuss afterwards.
What do you think is the best thing about social media? Connections!
And the worst…?! That people think it’s OK to say things they wouldn’t say to another person’s face.
What is the most important item you require for a quiet night in? My slippers.
What’s your signature dish? Can a signature dish be cupcakes? My lemon drizzles are really tasty! (I can vouch for that!)
Thanks for those great answers, Stella. I couldn’t agree more with you about social media.
Stella’s debut novel is called ‘How Many Wrongs make a Mr Right?
There’ll be two more guests tomorrow. Don’t forget to pop back.
